Logitech launch webcam viral promotion

LONDON - Consumer technology company Logitech has launched a viral game to drive sales of its webcam products.

The game, which was created by Inbox Digital, allows players to zap aliens who are trying to steal a webcam from an office. The campaign is promoting the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks, as well as raising awareness of using webcams for video calling with Skype.

Players who subscribe to the Logitech newsletter on the game’s site receive news on a special offer for a Logitech webcam and Skype package. They also receive a follow-up email offering a five per cent discount on the deal. A link on the game’s website gives further details on the products.

In December 2006, Logitech launched a viral campaign to promote its cordless desktop keyboards. The campaign was produced by Inbox Digital.
